Great stay in Deep Gap
The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed. It's very well stocked and the beds were very comfortable. The cabin is decorated very nicely and has ample furnishings. The only downside is the drive to/from the cabin when we went into Boone. We arrived late at night and the GPS took us to what we later realized was the back gate and through perilous gravel one-lane roads. We later discovered there is another gate and all of the roads were paved. It's is still a trek but much better than the gravel roads.

Great Get Away
We took our teen age granddaughters up for a few days. We had a great stay. Cabin was wonderful and it was nice spending some quality time with them without so many distractions

Wonderful cabin!
Penny Creek Cabin was one of our best all-time VRBO experiences! The cabin itself was clean and the decor/furnishings were beautiful. We had everything we needed for our stay...the "starter pack" of household items almost lasted us the entire 5 days, but I would still recommend stocking up on groceries/supplies before arrival. We used the Walmart in Boone which was about 30 minutes away.
Susan was awesome, easy to work with and excellent with communications!
This cabin is not for the mobility impaired---you do have to navigate an outside staircase to reach the main living level, as described in the property details. The drive to the Powderhorn Mt. community involves a winding mountain road. It is paved and well-traveled, but I would advise not arriving after dark or during inclement weather. If you are a nervous mountain driver or scared of heights, my advise is to get someone else to drive and just close your eyes. LOL
Your reward, though, is a stay at a beautiful gated community with lots of things to do. Our favorites were the "sliding rock" on Laurel Creek near the campground, the paddleboats at the clubhouse lake, and the game room at the clubhouse. We also walked some trails and would have used the pool but sadly it was under repair (should be reopened by July 4). Our 10-year old son loved exploring the creek that runs right next to the cabin.
All in all, it was a wonderful 5-star stay. Highly recommend, esp. if you're looking for a secluded mountain getaway that's not too secluded!

Delightful Getaway!
We could not have picked a more perfect spot for a mountain getaway. The location was beautiful and the cabin was ultra clean and oh-so-charming. The whole family loved the huge wrap around porch overlooking the babbling brook. We will be back!

Perfect for our family!
Penny Creek Cabin was the perfect place for our little family. The cabin was beautiful and clean and well-stocked, and we appreciated all the little touches for young kids (like books and games.) We won't hesitate to book again next time we're in the area!

Wonderful Respite!
We were thrilled with the beautiful scenery, our children loved the creek and the trail to explore right outside the backyard. The cabin was so lovely, very well appointed and the kitchen was well stocked for culinary adventures. We loved having breakfast on the deck and watching the geese and ducks frolic in the pond. It was a fantastic weekend getaway with nature!

Long Fall Weekend Getaway
Fantastic stay! Communication was fantastic as there was a brush fire on the mountain right before we arrived. The team kept in touch and reached out multiple times to make sure we arrived safe. House was perfect size for my husband, dog, and myself. It was immaculate. Hard to find in the dark but comfy and cozy. When wifi was an issue (football season) one night I reached out and less than 10 mins later it was fixed! We did multiple hikes and the house had everything we needed to stay in for all our meals. Bed was comfortable and I highly recommend this house.

Birthday & Family Weekend
My 4 year old son and my father who is 69 spent Labor Day weekend at Penny Creek Cabin. This was our first trip to the mountains for my son, Solomon. We had a wonderful time. The house was amazing and perfect for what we needed for the weekend getaway. We enjoyed listening to the creek that flows next to the house and hiking the trails around the house as well as grilling out and watching the deer who were grazing right next to the deck. We went to Tweetsie Tailroad on the Saturday we were there and the house was close enough to many different places. September 3rd was my 38th birthday and my
Son and I went to enjoy the amenities that the community offered. We rode the paddle boats and walked the trails and he enjoyed the playground. It was overall a memorable and special weekend and we thank you so much for making it possible. Hope to visit again soon.

Tranquility
We were pleasantly surprised when we entered the cabin. Newly updated everything! Beds were very comfortable with soft linens. The kitchen was well equipped and roomy. Bathroom was nice and large with washer and dryer in the bathroom. They had several movies, mostly for kids but we brought our own. The view from the deck is amazing with a pond right across the street. A creek runs along side of the property with a nice hiking trail along the creek. In wet weather the hiking trail along side of the cabin can be slippery. Definitely not a trail you can take your dog on. The owner had recently put down construction gravel for the driveway and would be impossible without a four wheel drive vehicle. Maybe as the gravel crushes over time it will get easier to maneuver. The porch has a gate to keep pets and kids in. The fishing at Trout Lake is disappointing but beautiful. Be sure to bring everything you need because going back down the mountain is a long trip. We had a great time and the property was very comfortable and updated.

Great cabin. Lots of nice touches. Very well stocked. Very Clean
We stay in 3-4 cabins every summer and this is the nicest cabin that we have stayed in. Very well stocked kitchen. High end appliances. The deck is large and we could hear the small creek from the porch. Porch has a gate so our dog could roam freely and watch all the animals passing by. Large gas grill. Paved roads all the way to the driveway. Powderhorn mountain is a nice community with lots of trails and a swimming pool right by a lake.

Lovely house in a beautiful location
Home is lovely, very nicely decorated, in a great location. The stream runs right by the house, and the accompanying trail was a perfect hour or so. Great for a couple, plus our dog (who loved it as much as we did)

four days in heaven
very cute updated cabin. Everything seemed new. I thought I would be disappointed because there was no view, but the babbling brook and forest overhang were perfect. I hope to stay here again, soon.
