Horseshoe Haven - Powder Horn Mountain

Have stayed here 3 or 4 times now. Always the same, clean, very quiet and peaceful. Will definitely stay again. Great response from manager and all amenities worked fine. Hidden gem.

Cool spot, neighborhood was great too with lots to do. Dog friendly, so we enjoyed having our pets with us. Not much of a mountain view since the tree growth was blocking it all, but still a great experience. The host did a great job of providing everything you need to get started. My only constructive feedback was that the cabin smelled of THICK smoke. As soon as you open the door you're hit with a strong smoke smell. Burnt logs were left in the fireplace with ash. After removing that and shoveling all the ash out, it helped the smell.

Beautiful stand-alone home in the mountains. Peaceful area. Home was very clean. Sunrise view in the morning was fantastic. Easy drive to Boone for restaurants and shopping. Would definitely book again.

Had to cut trip short due to Hurricane Helene and was so disappointed to leave. Cute cabin in a beautiful neighborhood. Took us about 30 minutes to Boone or Blowing Rock and the entrance to parkway was nearby. The management company was very responsive and gracious. So sorry the hurricane has affected their area but am sure they will be back on track soon.

The house and property were as described. The location and views were beautiful. We appreciated the screened in porch and ate dinner out there every night. The communication with the property owner/manager was smooth and easy. Check out and check in were easy. The internet connection was not very good, but the property description is very up front about that. This is definitely a place to get away from it all!

Enjoyed spending our Thanksgiving in this beautiful area! The cabin was perfect for my mom and I with all the things we needed. Loved the screened in porch which allowed us to enjoy our morning coffee with a view. Location was great cause the town of Boone was just a short drive away. Cabin was very cozy. Pictures and items that were described in the listing were accurate. We did have an issue with the Wi-Fi on our first night, but it seemed to fix itself the next day. The neighbors and the gate attendant were all incredibly friendly. We never used the pool house, so cannot speak to that, but the waking paths were awesome. Would recommend for a nice, quiet stay.

We're Airbnb hosts ourselves, and have enjoyed marvelous stays at numerous Airbnb bookings.
That said, 30 min after we arrived, unpacked the car and settled on the screened porch, we knew that Horseshoe Haven (and the entire Powderhorn community) was exactly what we had been looking for, and we only wished we'd booked a longer stay. We also didn't realize just how much we really needed the down time, to truly be away from it all, until we looked at each other over our coffee on the porch our last day, and almost in unison said, "how 'bout we just stay put again today (instead of making the short drive to town as we'd planned). Horseshoe Haven was very clean, comfy, so quiet and peaceful, and well stocked with everything we needed for our stay. It has been years since we've been able to slow down enough in the evening to do something as simple, engaging and pleasant as playing cards or a board game, which we took turns choosing each evening for our nightly porch sitting - perfect endings to our fabulously leisurely days. Thank you, Susan, for sharing your haven with us.

We had a great time. Loved the cabin and the clubhouse and the Powderhorn community. We hiked, skied and toured Grandfather Winery. Lots to do! Susan was very helpful with our WiFi problem.

We had a great stay, wished we could have stayed longer, on our end not the availability of the house. The house was clean and very functional for our needs. The only thing we couldn't find was a can opener, but my Dad being the boy scout he is found a way with his knife. Great memories were made for 3 generations.

Great little secluded cabin. Small place but clean and comfortable. Great fireplace and deck over looking the valley. Great sunrises from the deck. Rental company provided all the information you need plus good additional information for your stay. We went tubing at Hawks Nest, visited Grandfather mountain and hung out and ate in Blowing Rock.

This place was amazing.. just perfect for our family of 4. Beautiful sunrises. Very clean and well stocked with cooking utensils and pots, etc. Internet and cell service are not good here, but we were aware of this and actually enjoyed being able to unplug for our stay! So many amenities, we will try to come back during the warmer months to take advantage of all the powder horn mountain has to offer.

Rented a cabin for the weekend so we could explore Blowing Rock area. Cabin had a nice fireplace and was very cozy. Seems like a great neighborhood too with a pretty lake and play area if you have dogs.

Property was exactly what was stated. Very clean. I would come back again and recommend. However, the dirt roads were a surprise. We didn't have enough time to go to the club house, paddle boat, etc... I think the check-out time is too early being check-in time is after 4pm. Those 2 things are my only complaints.

The house is updated, nicely furnished, and was exceptionally clean. But the real show stealer was the amazing hiking in the community. I can't say enough about how beautiful the trails are. We plan to return on the regular to get more hikes in!

This was a very clean and secluded cabin. Local channels were available on the television along with a library of DVDs. Internet was spotty, but this was disclosed in the description. Only complaint was that we had four occupants and by the second person taking a shower there was no hot water. Development had a nice pond with trails and a game room (pool and ping pong). There was also an outdoor pool that was out of season.

My husband and I rented this property for one week in order to explore the surrounding area including Boone, Blowing Rock, Mt Airy, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. It takes about 25 minutes to get from the property to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The property is among other homes on Powder Mountain but still felt secluded. The most impressive thing about this property is the Property Manager and the Maintenance Personnel. On our second day (a Saturday) after being gone all day sightseeing we returned around 5 pm to a major maintenance issue requiring immediate attention. I called the Property Manager (Moonlight Property Management) and she immediately sent the Maintenance Personnel over to assess the situation and determine how to address/minimize the damage. The Property Manager arrived shortly after as well. Everyone worked quickly to minimize damage and offered to move us to a different property. We elected to stay and the Property Manager made sure we had what we needed to be comfortable. On Sunday and Monday we were kept updated on the repair schedule. Everything was back in working order by Monday afternoon. Kudos to the Property Manager and Maintenance Personnel for their immediate response and quick resolution of the issue.

The rental process was very easy and the management was friendly. The house is located at a good place and very quiet. The house itself needs some tlc. Overall the cleanliness was ok (kitchen, bathrooms). The bedding could be updated and more thorough cleaning around the house. Everything worked fine and we no reason to call management. We enjoyed our stay but would probably choose another property if we decide to visit the area again.

Rest, relaxation, recreation and renewal - - All accomplished while staying at Powderhorn Mountain. Comfy, cool, and refreshing for both the body and the soul ! I hesitate to name the property because I want it to stay our special secret hide-a-way! But any rental suggested by Moonlight Properties is sure to be terrific. Reasonably priced compared to area hotels. And the sound of the rain on the roof (which is priceless) cannot be found in a hotel!

Cabin was exactly as described, cute, clean and well stocked! Comfortable bedding. Loved the cozy fireplace! Nice view. Easy to find. Rainy and sleet during our stay-felt comfortable parking with my 4wd, but would definitely recommend some gravel or rocks in the driveway. Would definitely stay again.

I rented Horseshoe Haven for my daughter and grandson. I wanted a cozy place within walking distance from our home so we could stay Covid safe. We spent time outdoors during the day and at night my daughter and grandson nestled into the house. They loved that it was small and intimate - no huge, unnecessary spaces - my daughter would watch the sunrise from the enclosed deck/porch. They made fires morning and night and throughly enjoyed the house. This will be our go-to rental when advising family where to stay. Plus, Susan Cheney is always accessible and a joy!

This was the perfect cottage to escape into the mountains. Beautiful sunrises from deck and master bedroom, large cozy fireplace, lots of wildlife watching, and a great kitchen to cook your own meals. Management is amazing and the house was spotless!

To start, I had to reach out the rental company after booking online because I did not receive any form of contact from them regarding the reservation I made online and the rest of the experience with them was a bit unprofessional.
The house itself had one little tiny uneven area to park in and if you're not used to driving in the mountains, the incline to get there is a bit steep. Inside it was fairly clean but the beds were very uncomfortable and the master bedroom floor was noticeably slanted. The views from the screened in porch were the highlight of the trip but the foliage was not maintained and the outdoor furniture was ragged, cheap and falling apart. The house had mifi but the signal was not very strong so we really couldn't use it for our devises. I'm a pretty easy person to please so the fact that it had so many problems in my opinion make it NOT a great stay. I probably gave it a higher star rating then it deserves.

This was a very nice little house. All that I needed for myself and fur baby. Loved the screened in porch and the deck. The place was very clean and no odors. While I didn’t do any cooking it was nicely stocked with the essentials. Would stay again if there was blinds or curtains at the kitchen window and the side door entrance(it had window panes) I felt a little uncomfortable at night with people seeing in. Also wished it had chairs on the deck but overall a very nice place.

Great place. The Screened in back porch with the forest view was the highlight. The house was one of the nicest I’ve been to very pretty and clean and friendly! I’m accustomed to the area which is always gorgeous... But this little treasure was definitely worth it! I loved the community pool and walking through the beautiful neighborhood...I had no issues whatsoever and there was quick and efficient communication when I had questions.

Great little hideaway tucked into the side of a mountain, with every convenience you could ask for at this price. Quiet, relaxing, and just a wonderful experience. Susan the property manager is the BEST. Popped in to make sure all is well. And then stayed out of our way. Offered great suggestions on local eateries and attractions.

Address was wrong...lost for 2 hrs with no cell service Airbnb or you???? Kids were upset..long story but we finally knocked on Melinda's door and she figured it out by written directions plus the name of the cabin because she lives there!
No double bed in bedroom 2..only twin and bunks...smoke detector hanging from the ceiling
Trash was a constant worry
Kitchen sparse:
No big fry pan. No serving bowls, no mixing bowl, no coffee filters, no cleaning supplies, no cooking oil as noted, no wine opener..coffee maker high tech...
Oddly we loved the location and the screened in porch!!! Love the layout..
Would go back if kitchen were stocked with more necessities ...what you had a lot of were pie plates???? Love Powder Horn..

The cabin and property management company were great. I did not like the distance it was from Boone (had to drive about 8/9 Miles up mountain roads.) The pictures of the cabin online seem to portray an awesome mountain view but that was in winter when all the leaves were off the trees. During the summer months the trees/leaves cover up the entire mountain where you can't see anything so that was disappointing for sure. The cabin itself provided great amenities such as games, great selection of DVD's, patio/grill.

Beautiful cabin with a beautiful view of the valley. The place is a little hard to find, so be sure to read the host's directions ahead of time rather than relying on GPS.
